This month we had some awesome releases in the crime and thriller genres! Starting with Like a Sister a story about a woman whose estranged reality show sister is found dead under mysterious circumstances and the woman's search for the truth by Kellye Garrett.
The Quarter Storm by Veronica G. Henry is an exciting book about a practitioner of Vodou who must test the boundaries of her powers to solve a ritual murder in New Orleans and protect everything she holds sacred.
We also finally have the much-anticipated crime fiction anthology, The Midnight Hour Anthology edited by Abby L. Vandiver has several short stories by fellow Crime Writers of Color authors and is a powerhouse of fun and thrills.
Under Lock and Skeleton Key by Gigi Pandian is a locked-room mystery homage with amazing food and riveting characters. Finally, Secret Identity by Alex Segura is hailed as an absorbing and gritty noir. I've heard great things about this book and can't wait to check it out. May they all break bestseller records!
Speaking of bestsellers. If you think you've got the chops to write the next one but need a little help, head over to the Sisters in Crime website. The Eleanor Taylor Bland Award, a $2000 grant for emerging crime fiction writers of color is open for submissions! Good luck! Info here: http://sistersincrime.org/EleanorTaylorBland
